      People thronged before  him when he came out of the studio of DD-Bihar on Janmashtmi this time. The reason was a unique presentation of songs he made while recording. The uniqueness lies in the fact that all the bhajans (prayer songs)  of Krishna  he sung had been penned by Muslim poets like Raskhan, Taj, Yakarang, Nazir Akabarabadi, Nazir Banarasi etc. The ethos of religious harmony reflected in the melody per se. Just a day ago he presented Live commentary of the official celebration of Independence Day in Gandhi Maidan, Patna. If you meet him, you would find an ever cheerful, dashing and handsome personality that can attract every one. He maintains an ideal routine of 'early to bed and early to rise'. The dignity in his gaiety, dress-sense, beautiful and thick hair on head make altogether a good cause to envy even for middle-aged persons. 

      Dr. Shankar Prasad had been the Chairman of Bihar Sangeet Natak Academy for long tenures. Before that he worked as a professor in Patna University and started his career as an announcer in All India Radio. Now he is in his Seventees though still very active in social events. His superbly soft and modulated voice is perfect for singing even now and his latest production is a collection of Bhajans (prayers) and Gazals (songs). We have already provided the link of his bhajans in our previous post. Now we are presenting the links gazals sung by him.

     इस जन्माष्टमी  पर डीडी-बिहार के स्टूडियो से निकलते समय लोग उनके सामने बड़ी संख्या में इकट्ठे हो गये। इसका कारण रिकॉर्डिंग के दौरान उसने गानों की एक अद्वितीय प्रस्तुति दी थी। अद्वैतता इस तथ्य में निहित है कि उन्होंने कृष्ण के सारे भजन (प्रार्थना गीत) जो गाये वो मुस्लिम कवियों जैसे रसखान, ताज, यकरंग,, नजीर अकरबराबादी, नजीर बनारसी आदि ने लिखा है। धार्मिक सद्भाव का यह अनोखा लोकाचार उनके गायन में पूरी तरह झलक रहा था। सिर्फ एक दिन पहले ही उन्होंने गांधी मैदान, पटना में स्वतंत्रता दिवस के आधिकारिक उत्सव की लाइव कमेंट्री प्रस्तुत की। यदि आप उससे मिलते हैं, तो आपको एक हर्षित, तेज और सुंदर व्यक्तित्व मिलेगा जो हर एक को आकर्षित कर सकता है वह 'जल्दी सो जाओ, जल्दी जागो' वाली एक आदर्श दिनचर्या रखते हैं। उनकी प्रसन्नचित्तता, पोशाक का चुनाव, सुंदर और घने बालों की गरिमा, मध्यम-आयु वर्ग के लोगों के लिए भी ईर्ष्या का एक अच्छा कारण हो सकता है।

        डॉ. शंकर प्रसाद लंबे समय के कार्यकाल के लिए बिहार संगीत नाटक अकादमी के अध्यक्ष रहे। इससे पहले उन्होंने पटना विश्वविद्यालय में प्रोफेसर के रूप में काम किया और ऑल इंडिया रेडियो में एक उद्घोषक के रूप में अपना करियर शुरू किया। अब वह अपने सत्तरवें दशक में है, पर अब भी वे सामाजिक समारोहों में अभी भी बहुत सक्रिय हैं। उनकी शानदार नरम और सुनियंत्रित आवाज अब भी गायन के लिए एकदम सही है और इसका प्रमाण उनकी नवीनतम निर्मित भजन (प्रार्थना) और गजलों (गीत) का संग्रह वाला एल्बम है। हमने पहले ही अपने पिछले पोस्ट में अपने भजनों का लिंक प्रदान किया है। अब हम उनके द्वारा गाए गए  गज़लों के लिंक को पेश कर रहे हैं।
