Brief Story : This is story of transformation of a group of barbers into dancing natts (who are men but dance like a woman). Actually in their struggle of earning their livelihood this section of barbers suffered a lot. When they were unable to earn enough by their ancestral profession of cutting hairs and shaving others, they tried first took to dancing in search of serving the true form of art and purifying their souls by puja/ ramlila etc. But they were insulted by the people of higher casts in their noble efforts of taking up a profession of acting in Ramlila or dancing for performing worship of Gods. Ultimately they turned to dancing in the garb of woman though being a woman. In this profession people appreciated their work but still did not pay respect to them because of their birth in lower cast i.e. barber. The whole play seems to be hovering around professional struggle of Natts but the undercurrent and more important subject is the horrible caste discrimination prevailing still now in Indian society. This discrimination is to a ridiculous level when a Mandan Mishra holds a much higher respect in the whole social society even after working in the brothels but a worshiper of Gods virtuoso Bhikari Thakur gets a starkly low rank just because his parents was from Barber community.
